Patwa recently attended 1st Joint Meeting of Supreme Council of
Sports in Africa and Sports Federation of Africa in preparation
of the 10th All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique. At this
meeting Canoeing was confirmed as
one
of the official Sports in the Games Programme . During the
meting the All Africa games Logo was unveiled by the Organizing
Committee while Sports Federations from Africa were also able to
present their reports.
Meetings were also held with Mozambique National Canoe
Federation President Mr Jose Alcantara Santos and his team and
visit was made to the proposed Canoeing Competition venue in
Chindenguela Lagoon about 260km from Maputo.
The All Africa Games are expected to be held from 3rd-18th
September 2011 and upon satisfactory competition conditions
available at the Venue , the Continental Sprint Canoe
Qualifications for Africa for the London 2012 Olympic Games will
be held through the Games .
The Lagoon has several accommodations nearby and the water
conditions are flat with little wind. It is expected that
Canoeing will share this venue with Rowing.
CAC will support and assist the Mozambique NF in its
preparations for the Games through the International Canoe
Federation (ICF) and our Continental Boat Sponsor NELO Kayaks of
Portugal .
The 2nd Inspection visit by CAC is planned in April 2010 to view
the Competition venue preparation and accommodation for
athletes"
